TEAM PREVIEW
Northwest has gone 24-2 over the past two seasons with losses in the 5A Championship game each time. With five players returning that are garnering Division I interest, 2020 might be the year the Grizzlies breakthrough. Offense has been Northwest’s calling card the past two seasons, as it averaged nearly 52 points per game a year ago. All-state running back Julius Bolden (5-11, 195), who rushed for 1,567 yards and 29 touchdowns, is back. Outside of that, plenty of newcomers will need to emerge. However, the defense is loaded with returning players. First team all-state defensive end Zac Daher (6- 4, 245) will anchor the front four. He recorded 50 tackles last year, 12.5 of which were for a loss. He also registered seven sacks. Defensive back Wetu Kalomo (6-0, 175) was also a first team all-state player last year. He intercepted eight passes and deflected 13 more. Also back are defensive lineman Nathan Carter (6-2, 240) and defensive back Todric McGee (6-0, 190), both of which were first team all-league players.
