Thursday’s basketball scores, recaps (Dec. 17)

Boys

Hillsboro 71, SE-Saline 68, OT — Hillsboro’s Brekyn Ratzlaff had 20 points and four assists and teammate Grayson Ratzlaff had 1 9 points and eight rebounds. SE-Saline was led by Camden Spano-Lund’s 18 points, while Eli Sawyer added 15, Bryant Banks 13 and Jaxson Gebhardt 13. Naka Morrical-Palmer had 10 rebounds and Sawyer had eight.

Maize 65, Maize South 50 — Maize’s Avery Johnson scored a game-high 21 points, and Kyle Grill added 16. Maize South was led by Jeron Askren’s 12 points and Quincy Gholar’s 12 points.

Northwest 68, South 51 — Demarcus Hoover scored 18 and Braydon Verbeck 17 in the win. Geremiah Moore had 11 and Kevin Brown 10. South’s Terrance Hutton had 15, while Darryon Frierson had 12 and Abel Jones 11.

 

Girls

 

Andover Central 60, Salina Central 52 — Bailey Wilborn led Andover Central with 17 points, while Ellie Stearns added 14, and Britanny Harshaw and Maddie Amekporfor each had 12. Aubrie Kierscht had 17 for Salina Central, and H. Williams had 10.

Belle Plaine 48, Inman 42

East 72, West 27 — Aubree Dawson had 16 to lead East, while Asia DAwson added 13, Isis Sanders 13 and Akeir Scales 11. West’s Brianna Assimange had a game-high 18.

Garden Plain 58, Berean Academy 43 — Madysen Zoglman led Garden Plain with 19 points of 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range. Alli Puetz added 13 points and seven rebounds. Brooke Hammond had four assists. Berean’s Wine had 11.

Halstead 63, Kingman 27 — Halstead’s Karenna Gerber had 25 points, hitting 9 of 9 from the line. Teammates K. O’Brien and Paige Schroeder added 11 and 10.

Hillsboro 52, SE-Saline 42 — Hillsboro’s Jessica Saunders had 13 points and eight rebounds, and teammate Teegan Werth had 11 points. SE-Saline was led by Karsyn Schlesener’s 15 points and six rebounds. 

Hutchinson Trinity 52, Conway Spings 40

Maize 51, Maize South 31 — Maize played in its first game of the season after spending the previous two weeks in Covid-19 quarantine. Sydney Holmes scored a game-high 28 points, hitting three three-pointers and 11 of 11 from the free-throw line. Maize South was led by Clay’s 10 points.

Moundridge 42, Independent 25

Sterling 74, Trinity Academy 60 — K. Horsch scored a game-high 29 for Sterling, Briar had 19 and four threes, Beagley had 12 and M. Lindeth 10. Austin Broadie scored 28 for Trinity.
