Kenyon McMillan, Salina Central – Salina Area Postseason Football Player of the Year (Presented by Hutchinson Community College)

Kenyon McMillan of Salina Central was voted the Salina Area Postseason Football Player of the Year. McMillan was a first team all-league selection and ran for nearly 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns on 146 carries.

“It means a lot to me that I have been chosen player of the year because it has showed me what all the work in the off seasons has done, and there was a lot of good talent in the poll this year,” McMillan said.

The Mustangs were not predicted to be as good as they were, so that in itself was something McMillan was proud of.

“I would describe my season as a successful season because many people doubted the team this year,” McMillan said. “Then to go as far as we did in the playoffs this year, and just the season we had was successful.”

McMillan had one of the best seasons of any running backs in Class 5A and his performance in the middle of the season was perhaps his most impressive one.

“One moment that stood out to me the most was the first time playing Andover (on September 23) and I had six touchdowns that night,” McMillan said.

The plan for McMillan is to play football in college, but he has not made a decision as to where that will be yet.
