Central Burden’s Ty Henderson has a long background in FFA and agriculture, rooted in strong family ties.
“My mom’s parents own a small dairy farm, where I learned what it means to work hard and appreciate all of the hours that farmers and ranchers dedicate to feeding our country,” Henderson said. “That dairy farm is the backbone of my life in 4-H, participating in eleven years of dairy cattle showing at the Cowley County Fair. My dad’s parents raised me in the woods and fields, growing my love for hunting and the outdoors. I believe these two areas go hand in hand because they have to co-exist with one another.”
Henderson serves as the vice president of the local FFA chapter, where one of his key responsibilities is setting an example for other members.
“As an active 4-H and FFA member, my life is always surrounded by agriculture,” Henderson said. “During the school year, I participate in everything our local chapter goes to, including multiple CDE and LDE events.”
Through competitions, awards, and travel, FFA has provided Henderson with valuable experiences and lasting memories.
“I have received several awards, including grand champion dairy cattle showman, reserve champion dairy cattle showman, reserve champion leather and ag mechanics projects, and Cowley County Fair round robin qualifier,” Henderson said. “A top memory I have through FFA would be having the opportunity to go on a trip to Canyon, Texas, to see Palo Duro Canyon.”
