Wichita East’s Greyson Jowdy – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Caleb Hanke State Farm

Wichita East baseball player Greyson Jowdy has his sights set on one thing this season: winning.

“My primary focus for this season is winning. I want to make a run into the playoffs this year,” Jowdy said. “We have a strong group of guys that can get us there if we work together. I would like to have an .500 or above winning percentage.”

As the season unfolds, Jowdy has stepped into a leadership role for the Blue Aces, emphasizing both performance and consistency as the team pushes toward postseason goals.

“I would consider myself to be a very strong defender as well as a leader,” Jowdy said. “I try to be a good example for the young guys. I work hard behind the plate to try and help us stay in close games.”

Defensively, Jowdy’s presence behind the plate has been a key part of Wichita East’s approach, especially in tight situations, where managing pitchers and controlling the game becomes critical. His leadership has extended beyond game day, setting the tone for younger players in the program.

Offensively, Jowdy spent the offseason focused on refining his swing and increasing his physical strength in hopes of becoming more consistent at the plate.

“This season I wanted to work on hitting the ball hard back up the middle. I also wanted to improve my arm strength,” Jowdy said. “This offseason I was consistently hitting and lifting.”

Those improvements build on a strong junior campaign in which Jowdy hit .373 with 18 RBIs and earned recognition as a GWAL second-team utility selection.

For Jowdy, team success remains the top priority, and he believes this year’s group has the potential to accomplish something the program has not seen in his time there.

“Winning our regional would be a huge accomplishment for this team because we haven’t been in a position to win it since I’ve been here,” he said.
