Holcomb, coached by Trey Teeter, will build around one of the most dynamic multi-sport athletes in Kansas in 2026. Teeter’s nomination highlights Cooper Cranston, an explosive playmaker who impacts the game on both sides of the ball and across several sports. As a sophomore, Cranston was named Sports in Kansas Offensive Player of the Year and, at one point, led the state with eight interceptions on defense, underscoring his true two-way impact. This spring he broke the state record in the 110-meter hurdles, finished second in the 300 hurdles and placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 188 feet, while also running lead-off on the state-champion 4×100 relay team.
Beyond his production, Teeter describes Cranston as a high-character kid whose personality matches his talent. He notes that the community loves him, the teaching staff loves him, and that Cooper carries himself with a great head on his shoulders. That combination of character and performance has helped fuel significant recruiting interest at the next level. Cranston has already received offers from Kansas State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Minnesota and Eastern Michigan, positioning him as one of the premier junior prospects in the region. Holcomb will lean heavily on his leadership and multi-phase playmaking as the Longhorns chase another big season.
