Trego Community–WaKeeney, coached by Pat Haxton, will once again build its offense around workhorse back Jack Connes. Connes has been a centerpiece of the Golden Eagles’ attack since his freshman year and is coming off a huge 2025 campaign. Last season he rushed for 1,428 yards with 28 rushing touchdowns, and he added 29 receptions for 169 yards out of the backfield. He started as both a freshman and sophomore and has already piled up nearly 2,500 total rushing yards at TCHS.
Haxton notes that Connes has been preparing extremely hard for the upcoming season and that the staff is looking forward to a big year from him. His combination of volume, scoring and durability makes him one of the more productive backs in Kansas small-school football. With Connes carrying the load again, Trego Community will lean on a proven ground game and a veteran runner to set the tone on Friday nights.
