The Topeka High boys soccer team enters the 2026 season looking to build on a 9-6-2 campaign while replacing several key contributors from last year’s squad.
The Trojans will have to account for the loss of a couple of their top scorers, along with a four-year starting goalkeeper. Coach Derek Snook expects younger players to take on larger roles as Topeka High begins its new campaign.
“We look forward to competing this season,” Snook said. “Losing a couple of top scorers from last year’s team as well as a four-year starting goalkeeper means that some younger players will have to step up.”
One player expected to help lead that transition is Carlos Martinez, who enters his fourth season as a starter. Martinez will be a key piece of the Trojans’ attack and is expected to provide leadership both on and off the field.
“Carlos will be a four-year starter this season,” Snook said. “He will be a main catalyst to our attack. He leads with his work ethic in games as well as practice.”
With experienced leadership from Martinez and opportunities for younger players, Topeka High hopes to make another competitive run this season.
