Andover High School senior Brooke Parham brings energy, competitiveness and a close connection with her teammates to the volleyball court.
Parham, a 12th grader, values the people around her, both in athletics and away from school. She said her father has been one of the biggest influences in her life.
“My dad inspires me because he is the hardest worker I know, but he is also the most humble and generous person I know. He pushes me to be better just like he pushes himself to be better.”
That example of persistence has shaped how Parham approaches competition. She said athletics has helped her develop skills that extend far beyond a game or practice.
“Athletics has taught me how to face adversity and grow and adapt, I think I will use that throughout my whole life.”
Parham said the best part of being on the volleyball team is sharing the experience with people she knows well.
“What I enjoy most is getting to play with my best friends.”
That chemistry shows up in the team’s daily interactions. Parham appreciates an environment where players support one another while keeping practices and games enjoyable.
“What I love most about my team is that we are always laughing and giggling with each other.”
She identified Brynn Eilert as the team’s best setter and one of its most vocal players. Parham also said Eilert has made a lasting impact on her as a teammate.
“The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Brynn Eilert because she holds me accountable but is also my biggest cheerleader on the court, we work well together and our competitiveness feeds off each other.”
Parham jump serves, a choice she prefers because it creates a tougher challenge for opponents. She also pointed to Kennadi Noyes for her effort defensively, saying Noyes is consistently hustling and diving for digs.
Outside of volleyball, Parham participates in broadcast, National Honor Society and track during the spring. Her favorite subject is Spanish, and she credits Mrs. Trevino, her Spanish 2 and 3 teacher, as her favorite teacher.
When she has free time, Parham enjoys being with friends and family. One favorite stop around town is 7 Brew, where she likes getting specialty drinks with friends.
