Friday’s football semifinal results (Nov. 22)

Class 6A

Derby’s season ended with a 31-21 loss to Manhattan. The Panthers, who were unbeaten coming into the game, cut the lead to 21-14 midway through the third quarter.

Quarterback Drew Kemp had 90 rushing yards, 159 passing yards and a touchdown pass to Daylen Bledsoe. Both Kemp and running back Arieus Finley had rushing touchdowns.

Manhattan will play Gardner-Edgerton, a 34-25 winner over Blue Valley West.

Class 5A

Eisenhower lost to Hays 24-14 to end its season. Hays will play St. Thomas Aquinas, which beat St. James 24-17.

Class 4A

Andover Central returns to the state championship with a 41-14 win over Buhler. The Jaguars will play Bishop Miege, a 48-13 winner over Tonganoxie.

Class 3A

Andale is back in the state title game after one year away with a 55-14 win over Holcomb. It was Andale coach Dylan Schmidt’s 100th game — he is 96-4.

Andale will play Topeka Hayden, which beat Wellsville 35-7.

Class 2A

SE-Saline advances to the championship with a 34-30 win over Beloit, scoring on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Gannon Jacobson to Kanyon Douglas on the game’s final play. SE-Saline will play Nemaha Central, which beat Council Grove 21-6.

Class 1A

Conway Springs is back to the championship with a 55-22 win over Valley Heights. Logan Osner had 160 rushing yards and four touchdowns, and Isaac Winter had 152 yards with three touchdowns.

Valley Heights cut the lead to 7-6 midway through the first quarter, but Conway Springs scored 45 straight points.

Conway Springs plays Centralia, which beat Rossville 22-9.

8-Man I

Hoxie will play Central Plains in the title game after getting a 42-28 win over South Central. Central Plains beat Clifton-Clyde 28-25.

8-Man II

Victoria beat Dighton 66-20 to advance to the title game against Axtell, a 52-20 win over Frankfort.

6-Man

Cunningham beat Tescott 54-8 to advance to the championship. Weskan beat Golden Plains 82-45 to get to the title game.
