Wichita North’s Trinity Slater – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

By Angela Brunk

Trinity Slater, a dedicated sophomore at Wichita North High School, is making a name for herself on the track and beyond. Competing in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 4×100 meter relay, and triple jump, Slater has her sights set high this season. Her individual goals include cutting down sprint times and reaching 35 feet in the triple jump. This is one foot beyond her proudest accomplishment last year of a 34-foot jump that marked a major personal breakthrough.

Slater’s ambitions go far beyond the stopwatch and measuring tape. “I want to inspire and help those I can with what I know,” Slater shared with Vype Magazine. “Although track is an individual sport, everything we do and go through is as a team. The relationships we build are a blessing.”

Slater spent her offseason staying active with personal training and participating in sports year-round to keep her body in peak condition. She’s looking forward to challenging herself this season, not just to improve as an athlete, but to continue growing as a teammate and leader.

Outside of athletics, Slater’s schedule is just as impressive. She’s involved in North’s theater program, the Bio-Med program, TRIO Talent Search, Student Leadership, and stays involved in school events throughout the year.

Looking ahead, Slater plans to pursue a biology degree in college before heading to medical school with hopes of becoming an anesthesiologist. With her drive, focus, and passion both on and off the track, there’s no doubt Trinity Slater is sprinting toward a bright future.
