Perry’s Macie Corcoran – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

By Mike Moguin

Junior Macie Jae Corcoran is busy with a lot of sports as a student-athlete at Perry (KS) LeCompton High School.

You can find her playing volleyball, basketball, softball, running track, and even grappling on the wrestling mat. And she’s attained success in all.

Corcoran’s most memorable athletic achievement so far comes in the sport that requires your feet.

“Going to the state track meet two years in a row for the hurdlers, and this year placing second in the 300 hurdles for Class 3A was special,” she said.

“Dedication, hard work, and teamwork,” Corcoran said, are what sports taught her on how to be a better person

A coach just happens to be her favorite teacher, which would be Coach Paramore.

“He’s always pushing me, and he has made me a better athlete. He works with me not only at practice but also in my strength and conditioning classes,” Corcoran said.

Older sister Allie Nally is an inspiration to Corcoran, she said, “Because after she had an injury, she pushed through and became an All-American Power Lifter.”

Taylor Damme, a 2024 LeCompton High School graduate now playing volleyball at Arkansas-Ft. Smith, is the teammate who has inspired Corcoran the most, “ because she made everyone around her better and she cared about me enough to help me push past my limits.” Damme is a multi-sport athlete herself, having also played softball and basketball, in addition to throwing the javelin.

What Corcoran loves about representing LeCompton High School is “Being allowed to do multiple sports each season and being able to excel in sports and school.”

The best advice anyone has ever given Corcoran comes from her own family. “My dad tells my every day, ‘To be the best Macie’, which to me means give everything I got and leave it all on the court, field, mat, and the track.”

Other activities she does in her free time, “When I’m not training, I’m helping my community by volunteering at the church.

“I thank my parents and my two sisters for getting me to all my sporting events and pushing me when I need it,” Corcoran said. “I also wanna thank Coach Paramore, Coach Damme, all my coach’s that taught me what I need to know to be better.”
