For Basehor-Linwood senior Cole Hofer, there’s nothing more meaningful than representing the community he’s grown-up in. “Getting to represent my hometown where I’ve lived my whole life,” Hofer said, describing what he loves most about being a student-athlete. It’s that small-town pride and work ethic that have helped him excel in both football and basketball for the Bobcats.
Hofer’s athletic journey began early — long before he stepped onto a high school field or court. “Football when I was four, basketball when I was five,” he said. Years of dedication have shaped him into a versatile two-sport athlete who thrives under pressure. On the gridiron, Hofer lines up at defensive back, while on the hardwood, he brings energy and leadership to the guard position.
When it comes to challenges, Hofer doesn’t shy away. He admits some road games stand out for their intensity. “The toughest gym to play in on the road? De Soto or Piper,” he said. But regardless of the venue, he shows up ready to compete, carrying the same mindset that’s defined his high school career.
In the classroom, Hofer channels that same discipline. “Business is my favorite subject,” he said, giving a nod to one of his mentors. “Mrs. Weick is my favorite teacher.” That focus on academics pairs perfectly with his competitive drive in sports.
Hofer also draws inspiration from some of the pros who’ve made an impact in their respective sports. “Favorite pro is Nate Wiggins for the Ravens. He’s my favorite defensive back in the NFL,” Hofer said. “Andrew Nembhard for the Indiana Pacers. He’s my favorite because he’s underrated and I like his style of play.” Both athletes embody qualities — toughness, consistency, and determination — that Hofer strives to mirror in his own game.
Looking ahead, his goals are clear. “Continue my football career at an undecided university,” he said. Whether he’s locking down receivers or driving to the basket, Hofer’s dedication to improvement and love for his hometown shine through in everything he does — a true reflection of what it means to be a Basehor-Linwood Bobcat.
