Emporia High School’s class of 2026 features one of its most dynamic multi-sport athletes in Rylan Crowell, a standout in both football and basketball. On the football field, Crowell’s versatility shines as he contributes at free safety and running back, bringing speed, discipline, and instinct to every play. But it’s on the basketball court where he has set his boldest goals and built an impressive resume.
As he steps into his senior season, Crowell is embracing the new challenge of transitioning to point guard. Understanding the responsibilities of leading an offense, he dedicated his offseason to sharpening his shooting and ball-handling, determined to elevate both his game and his team. “I’ve worked on my shooting and ball handling, transitioning to PG this year,” he said, evidence of his commitment to growth and leadership.
Crowell is already an established force in the Centennial League. One of his proudest accomplishments is earning First Team All-League honors during his junior year, a recognition that reflects not only his athletic ability but also his competitiveness and consistency.
Among the matchups Crowell anticipates most is Emporia’s annual battle with Great Bend, a rivalry he describes as “always a close and competitive game.”
In addition to basketball and football, Crowell also participates in Future Business Leaders of America and competes in track in the spring. Crowell is undecided about future plans but would love to continue his athletic journey at the next level.
With his work ethic, expanding skill set, and competitive fire, Rylan Crowell is poised to be one of Emporia’s most impactful athletes, one determined to leave a lasting mark on the court.
