As a two-year starter for Campus high school junior Trace Van Arsdale plays middle infield, center field and pitcher for the Colts.
“Trace is a hard working player that brings his best attitude and effort each day whether it is a game or practice. As a coach it is great to have someone like Trace on the team because of all the different positions he can play. Trace is like a Swiss Army knife, with the tools and athlete Trace can play any spot in the outfield, middle infield, and pitches on the mound,” head coach Colton Flax said.
Van Arsdale spent a lot of his offseason preparing to be a leader for the Colts this season.
“I’ve gone to a few camps and showcases during the offseason. I have stayed steady in the gym, working on explosive power, and building strength. I make sure to get in 4-6 days a week of glove work, and really breaking down my pitching and swing,” Van Arsdale said.
Being a two-year starter has not stopped Van Arsdale from continuing to work on his game.
“I want to continue to have quality at bats, but get off to a better offensive start this year. I want to prove what I can really do to help the team be successful,” Van Arsdale said. “I have spent many hours at the facility in the cage working on my approach at the plate and really dialing in on my swing.”
