Kingman’s Parker Beam is most excited to take the field with friends while chasing team success. Beam was a second team all-league athlete last season.
“I’m excited about getting tan but mostly being able to play with all my friends and hopefully going to state,” Beam said.
During the offseason, Beam stayed active by working on her skills at home with family support.
“To prepare I’ve been hitting and playing catch at home with my parents,” Beam said.
This year, Beam is focused on improving her hitting and becoming more consistent at the plate.
“I want to improve my hitting this year and be able to sit on change ups,” Beam said. “To get better I’ve just been hitting a couple of buckets every other day.”
Beam also has personal goals for her mindset during games, aiming to stay positive and energized.
“A goal I have for myself is trying to stay hype during games and not get mad when I mess up,” Beam said.
As a team, Beam wants to maintain effort and focus, even in challenging situations.
“A goal for the team is to keep fighting during games even if we are losing,” Beam said.
Looking beyond high school, Beam plans to continue her education and pursue a career in teaching.
“My future plans are to attend college at Kansas State and get my bachelor’s degree in education and teach high school geometry,” Beam said.
