The primary initial motivation for Ark City’s Hadley Musson to join FFA was she wanted to be a part of something.
But now, over four years, it has made an impact larger than she thought it would.
Through FFA, I also began my Baking SAE, which grew into a successful business that I still run today called Crumbs & Co.,” Musson said. “FFA helped guide me as both a leader and an entrepreneur, shaping my high school experience in ways I never expected.”
Through state conventions, national conventions, competitions and Musson has learned how learn, grow and explore. It has shaped her into the leader she is today.
“Some of my favorite memories come from traveling to leadership conferences and conventions, competing at state, and bonding with my chapter,” Musson said. “Whether it was early morning practices, long road trips, or celebrating wins as a team, each moment has been meaningful. I’ve also grown incredibly close with my fellow officers and the members of our chapter—we’ve built a strong support system and a genuine family atmosphere that makes every experience special.”
Musson said her main recommendation for anyone joining FFA would be to not think it’s all about agriculture. Any student should be open to trying new things and be okay stepping out of their comfort zone.
“FFA isn’t just about agriculture; it’s about discovering who you are and building skills that last a lifetime,” Musson said. “The more you put into FFA, the more you’ll get out of it, and the experiences you gain will stay with you long after high school.”
