With another season of experience under his belt and lofty goals ahead, Beloit quarterback Truitt King believes the foundation has been laid for something special in 2026. After helping lead the Trojans last fall, King enters the season eager to see how a close-knit group can build on the progress it made a year ago.
“I’m excited to just see how much this team has grown from last year,” King said. “I’m also excited to just work with these guys every day. They are like my family.”
That chemistry has fueled an offseason centered on improvement. King attended the Kansas State Elite Camp, trained twice a week with quarterback coach Nick Davenport and competed in multiple seven-on-seven events to sharpen Beloit’s passing attack.
The biggest emphasis has been refining his footwork, an area he believes will elevate his game in the pocket.
“My footwork for sure,” King said. “As a quarterback I need to have good footwork to move around in the pocket. Every time I worked out with Coach Nick we always started with footwork.”
The work comes after a productive junior campaign in which King threw for 1,840 yards and 14 touchdowns. His performance earned him second-team All-League honors, honorable mention all-state recognition and Beloit’s Offensive MVP award.
While those accomplishments provide confidence, King is focused on taking another step both statistically and as a leader.
“For myself I just want to be a leader with this group,” he said. “I also want to throw for over 2,000 yards and around 20 touchdowns.”
King’s biggest aspirations, however, extend well beyond individual numbers. He wants to help restore championship football to a community that has waited decades for another title.
“As a team we want to bring home a state championship back to Beloit,” King said. “We haven’t won one in 30 years and this town deserves another one.”
