Emmett Delp, St. John

Season stats: 18 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1 block

“First team Central Prairie League. Emmett is a very talented player who can score at all three levels on the court and is the definition of a gym rat. Two of our three top players were out more than seven games each this year and Emmett was able to carry us (as a freshman) to wins over Central Plains and Little River, who both ended up playing at the state tournament. Emmett is playing with RUN GMC out of Kansas City this spring and we are looking forward to watching him continue to grow in the game of basketball.

Quade Smith, St. John

“Quade missed the last 10 games of the year with a broken hand. He was a four-year starter for us and a very important member of our program. He averaged 9.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.4 steals per game. He had a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio. To be frank, our season would’ve lasted much longer if Quade wouldn’t have had the injury.”

Mason Martin, Hoisington

“Mason Martin led our team in scoring, rebounding, steals and field goal percentage. He was guarded by the opposition’s best defender every night.”

Cooper McGowan, Ellsworth

Season stats: 10 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 4.4 steals, 2.1 blocks

“Cooper is a 6-foot-4 junior.  He filled the stat sheet every game with a well-rounded game at both ends of the floor and did so unselfishly with the team first attitude that he brings with him to every practice and every game.  Cooper played in all 20 games and played nearly every minute of every game.  He is irreplaceable within our team.  Cooper was named first team all league in the NCAA league and named one of the five best defensive players in Kansas, all classes, by Recruit Look Hoops Kansas.  Cooper drew the toughest defensive assignment every game, no matter if it was a point guard or a post player, and locked opposing players down with his length, anticipation and relentless motor.  Cooper’s offensive game continues to catch up to his defensive game and he will have an opportunity to be one of the best players in all of 3A in Kansas next year.  It is my pleasure to get to coach such a fine young man.”

Jack Ulwelling, Derby

Season stats: 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists

“Jack checked a lot of boxes for us. He was our best player, he was our hardest worker, he was our toughest kid, he was our coach on the floor. He had a great state tournament and played as well as anyone in our three games in Dodge. Our games typically have fewer positions than most teams. If he played in some systems, his stats would be even better.”

Dalton Bontrager, Haven

Donte Masqua, Horton

Season stats: 17.1 points, 13.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.1 steals

“Donte was the leader of our team. One of the most coachable, hard working, and best post players I have coached in 25+ years. What made Donte great is the fact he was such an unselfish player. Cy Stucky, Maize South

Season stats: 13.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks

“First team all-league (third leading vote getter in AVCTL I behind two seniors), first team all-tournament team Dodge City TOC. Cy had an incredible season and offseason. He averaged a double-double for the entire season, all while being double teamed every game. He has developed into a great leader as a junior featured on a team that had zero seniors, and started three, sometimes four sophomores throughout the entire season. There is no doubt in my mind Cy will be picking up several college basketball offers this offseason, and he will prepare to have a huge senior campaign.”

Jalen Batiste, Maize South

“Jalen earned second team All-AVCTL I as a sophomore. He was our primary ballhandler, second leading scorer and had the third most assists in a season in school history as a sophomore. Jalen had a great sophomore year and continued to get better and better as the year went on. He will look to have a great offseason and improve even more for his junior season.”

Bryer Finley, Topeka Seaman

Season stats: 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.1 steals.

“Finley only played in four games his junior year due to a back injury but came back to have an outstanding senior season. He’s a United Kansas Conference second team selection. Finley was the leading rebounder, second leading scorer, second in assists and second in steals for our team. Finley was an all-state receiver this year in football and is expected to be one of the top pitchers in the state.”

Ashton O’Neal, Fredonia

Season stats: 19.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 3.9 steals

“Ashton is a dynamic player who sets the tone on both ends of the floor. Has the ability to score at all three levels on the court and defend the best guard on the other team. Ashton put quite a bit of time in the offseason throughout his career and it really paid off this past season. Many times he saw a box-and-one or a triangle-and-two and yet still found a way to score as well as help the team win even if his scoring was down due to his defense and willingness to set others up on offense.”

Kamden Barnett, Fredonia

Season stats: 13.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 3.1 steals

“Kamden leads or is second in all categories on both offense and defense for our team. He has the ability to set the table for his teammates or create his own shot. Defensively, he has the ability to guard the opposing point guard and plays big enough to guard forwards. Although he has had games of 20+ and even 30, that is not his main focus. He runs the team on both ends of the floor. He consistently makes the right read/play that is best for the team and makes everyone around him better. He will make an even bigger impact the next two seasons.”

Nic is attending Loyola Chicago next year. Nic will also graduate with a 3.2 GPA.”

Brycen Palmquist, Council Grove

Season stats: 19 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.2 steals, 2.8 assists.

Brycen is second leading scorer in Council Grove’s history surpassing 1,000 points this year, and has set a steal record that I’d be surprised if it ever got touched. He led the team in multiple statistical categories including scoring, rebounds and steals. Brycen has had numerous accolades regarding basketball. For the second year in a row, he is first team all-league (unanimous decision), he has been selected to multiple media outlets and various all-state teams since his sophomore year and he has been selected to play in the Flint Hills Optimist All-Star game this year, which will be held in Emporia at White Auditorium. Academically, Brycen is just as strong as he is on the court. He currently has a 4.06 GPA and is ranked first in his class. Eli Benning, Wichita Northwest

Season stats: 11.3 points, 7.5 assists.

“Eliott was the only unanimous first team all-league player in the SEK this season. He was a tough matchup for teams all season long. He was a great leader and did so many different things for us all season. He is a nice basketball player and an even better young man.”

Warrick Olson, Chanute

Season stats: 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 36% three-point range

“Warrick was an outstanding player for us this year. He is one of the best shooters in the area. Teams throughout our season did their best to limit his shot attempts. He is an impressive young basketball player and an even more impressive young man.”

Sage Fejfar, Burlington

Season stats: 17.6 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.1 steals

“Sage is a tough guard for any team as he can take you down in the post or make you guard him on the perimeter.  Not only is Sage averaging a double-double, but he’s also put up a double-double in every game this season.  Sage also is a 4.0 student who is a great role model to his peers on how to represent himself, his school, and his community.  Sage has left a lasting impact on a ton of kids in our community and understands the impact he holds. Maddux has led our team in minutes the last two seasons and is crucial to our offensive movement and our defensive communication and plays with a motor that is unmatched. He is also another kid who is a terrific role model for future players on how to behave on the court and off it.  Such a likable kid by many and thankful we get to spend another season together.”
