Buhler’s Brendan Ronan – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Hutchinson Clinic

For the first time at any level, Buhler soccer player Brendan Ronan will have a chance to play alongside his younger brother, Gavin, who enters the season as a freshman.

“What is most exciting to me about the upcoming season is that I will have an opportunity to play alongside my brother Gavin for the first time at any level,” Ronan said.

Although Gavin is a freshman, Ronan believes he and several other freshmen could see playing time during select games. Sharing the field with his brother would make the season especially memorable.

“To be on the field with him at the same time will be a true highlight of the season for me,” Ronan said.

While preparing for his final high school season, Ronan has focused on improving his speed and explosiveness. Over the past several months, he has added extra work to his routine following summer workouts, spending hours running and lifting weights at the gym.

“One area I have been trying to improve for the past couple months is my speed,” Ronan said.

That additional work has helped Ronan feel stronger and more explosive heading into the season.

“I feel like I have thinned out and gotten more explosive,” Ronan said.

Ronan has set an individual goal of making significant strides during his senior season. He hopes his work in the offseason translates into becoming one of the most improved players on the team.

“For this upcoming season, I hope to be the most improved player on my team,” Ronan said.

As a team, Buhler has its sights set even higher. The Crusaders are looking to end a drought that has lasted since Ronan’s class was in its freshman season.

The soccer team has not won a regional championship since then, giving Ronan and his teammates extra motivation heading into the season.

“Our team believes we can achieve that and more this year,” Ronan said.
