Senior Jenna Lackey does it all for Buhler High School. She competes in the 4×100-meter relay, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and pole vault, but has also run the 100-meter dash and 4×400-meter relay.
Lackey’s favorite event is pole vault, and she has spent much of the offseason perfecting her craft.
“I have attended several pole vault camps during the offseason to help improve my technique and my running mechanics. I want to improve my speed and vault technique to help me achieve higher vaults,” Lackey said. “I competed in indoor meets this winter to get extra time working on my pole vault technique. I also used an indoor practice facility that I spent time at weekly.”
Lackey has big goals for herself and her team this season.
“My goals are to run a sub-60-second time in the 400 meters, a sub-26-second time in the 200 meters, help the 4×100-meter relay team break the school record we set last year, and pole vault 11 feet, 6 inches, which would also be a new school record,” Lackey said. “My goals for the team include helping win league and regionals, and placing in the top three at state.”
As a leader for Buhler, Lackey leads her team by example and with positivity.
“I encourage the team by always cheering them on. I also strive to do my best in all of my events to help the overall team score,” Lackey said.
