Buhler’s John Aldrich – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Don Tolar American Family Insurance

John Aldrich is looking forward to testing himself when Buhler faces some of its toughest opponents this season.

“I’m excited about Maize South and McPherson games because they are big games in our eyes, and the whole team will mostly have an intense energy high,” Aldrich said.

Aldrich said his personal focus this season is to play with a more physical mindset.

“My personal goal is to get violent this year — not throwing punches or any of that, but to have that strong urge to just want to lay people out,” he said.

While individual improvement is important, Aldrich said the Crusaders are united by a common objective.

“The team goal that everyone wants is to be able to get a state champion ring, and or go far in playoffs to be able to say we’re not a bad team,” he said.

To prepare for the season, Aldrich has spent the offseason focusing on strength and speed.

“In the offseason the main thing I’ve been doing to get better is weights and running forties at school,” he said.

Looking beyond high school, Aldrich plans to pursue a career as an electrician while remaining connected to agriculture.

“After high school I plan on going into electrician or something along those lines, a reliable job that lets me come home and farm after work,” he said.
