Chanute’s Kyli Baylor – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Rowdy Kyser Shelter Insurance

Kyli Baylor, a senior who is making her mark as a thrower for Chanute High School’s track team. During the season, she focuses on discus, shot put, and javelin, while also stepping up for her team when needed.

Last season, Baylor recorded impressive marks, including a 107.4 throw in discus, 86.11 in javelin, and 29.8 in shot put. She even ran the 800-meter race, finishing in 3:22, demonstrating her willingness to push beyond her primary events for the benefit of her team. Her efforts contributed to a strong season in which she earned league runner-up honors.

Beyond her performances, Baylor values teamwork and positivity. She is especially excited about supporting her teammates and cheering from the sidelines or giving them confidence for their competition. In addition to helping teammates, Baylor wants to improve her own positive self-talk throughout the season.

Baylor is committed to personal growth, both physically and mentally. She spends her free time creating workouts to improve her conditioning and build muscle, striving to reach her full potential. Additionally, she has been working on improving her nutrition by incorporating more protein into her diet and staying properly hydrated throughout the season.

Her passion for sports extends beyond competition. Baylor also participates in cross country and wrestling, and she assists with sports medicine under the direction of the athletic trainer, Aaliyah Manuz. Baylor shared she has a passion for helping others recover from injury because she has experienced many injuries herself. After graduation, she plans to attend Baker University to study athletic training while continuing her wrestling career, combining her love of sports with a desire to support others.
