Cheney’s Trinity Griffin – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Distinct Locker

By Cooper Chadwick

Coming off a stellar junior year, Cheney’s Trinity Griffin is excited to finish her final year of high school track.

Last season, Griffin ran 15.62 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, 13.26 in the 100, 27.71 in the 200 and threw 115 feet in the javelin. She is currently third all-time in the 100 hurdles at Cheney and is in the top 25 all-time in four other events.

Running the 100 hurdles, 100, 200 and throwing javelin, along with trying long jump this year, gives Griffin a full schedule, but she remains motivated.

“My motivation is to always be better, to never settle for less than my best for myself, my family and most importantly for God,” Griffin said.

During the offseason, Griffin focused heavily on preparation for her final season.

“I focused mostly on hurdles as this is my main event,” Griffin said. “I worked on improving my form and starting out of the blocks, which will hopefully help me reach my goal of breaking the school record and becoming a three-time defending league champion in the 100 hurdles. My other goals are to break the school record in the 4×100 relay and make it back to state in both those events, as well as throw over 120 feet in the javelin.”
