Circle’s Cate Rogers – Athlete Spotlight

Cate Rogers enters her senior season at Circle High School with high expectations for herself and the Thunderbirds.

After reaching 1,000 career assists as a junior and earning AVCTL Division III second-team honors, Rogers is focused on continuing to improve while helping Circle take the next step as a team.

“This season I am most excited to play with this group of girls, which I think have a lot of potential to become a really solid, competitive team,” Rogers said. “Also being led by the same coaching staff that helped me improve so much throughout all of the years I have been in the program.”

Rogers spent the offseason preparing for the upcoming season through a variety of training opportunities. She attended summer weights, volleyball camps and workouts while also competing in club volleyball.

Her preparation has centered on becoming a more consistent setter. Rogers participated in private setting lessons and attended camps to specifically work on her placement.

“I think I always have room for improvement, and setting this specific goal has kept me staying intentional with every set I make,” Rogers said.

That focus has also helped Rogers establish individual and team goals for her senior season. Individually, she hopes to earn first-team honors in her league.

For the Thunderbirds, Rogers has bigger aspirations.

“A few goals I have for the team this year is to have a winning record and hopefully win substate and make it to State,” Rogers said.

With another year of experience and a milestone already behind her, Rogers hopes to use her final season to help Circle turn its potential into results.
