Football Preview OLATHE EAST HAWKS

Olathe East, coached by Courtney Porter, brings a blend of size, versatility and trench dominance into the 2026 season. The Hawks’ nominations spotlight multi-dimensional H-back Desmond Washington and powerhouse offensive lineman Greg Decker. Washington, a 6-3, 185-pound athlete, will enter his third year as a varsity starter on offense and is expected to contribute on defense as well. In 2025 he topped 350 rushing yards and 350 receiving yards, showing the ability to impact games as both a runner and a pass catcher from the H-back spot. A two-sport athlete and starter on the basketball team, Washington has already drawn recruiting interest from several college programs thanks to his athleticism and versatility.

Up front, Decker gives Olathe East a dominant presence at strong tackle. At 6-3, 330 pounds, he is a returning starter and the lead blocker on many of the Hawks’ run calls, trusted to pave the way in critical situations. Coaches highlight his work ethic and commitment in the weight room, where he has helped build the strength that powers Olathe East’s ground game. Decker is also a standout in track and field, having won the Sunflower League shot put title before placing fourth in shot put and 11th in discus at the state meet. With six college football scholarship offers already in hand, he is regarded as one of the premier offensive linemen in Kansas and a cornerstone of the Hawks’ 2026 plans.
