Friday’s Wichita-area high school football scores (Sept. 27)

By Blake Chadwick

After a 59-7 win over Maize, the Derby Panthers have now outscored their opponents 235-21 throughout their first four games.

Derby’s defense has dominated, and that was no different on Friday as Dalton Hornback and Kikoa Indalecio each scored defensive touchdowns — Hornback on a 29-yard return and Indalecio on a 38-yard fumble return for a TD.

That defense — which held Maize to 105 yards of offense — has led to easy offense and highlight plays from senior Tennessee commit Da’Saahn Brame, who has been a matchup problem all year scoring as a tight end and even on special teams. Brame had five catches for 96 yards and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Drew Kemp completed 9 of 10 passes for 135 yards and four touchdowns. Arieus Finley had nine carries for 106 yards, plus a touchdown and a receiving touchdown, while Davon Morrison had 81 yards on five carries and one touchdown.

The Panthers will meet Hutchinson at home on Oct. 4 for another AVCTL matchup. Hutchinson (3-1) beat Salina South 47-0.

Andale took care of Collegiate 47-6 on the back of Sam and Landon Harp, who accounted for six total touchdowns.

The Indians are still undefeated and have now won 76 straight times at home.

Wichita Northwest gets one step closer to a City League title after a 48-24 win over Kapaun.

Maize South continued its winning ways, beating Campus 51-13.

Andover Central opened its game with an 80-yard pass play from Jace Jefferson to Brandt Stupka on the Jaguars’ way to a 24-0 win against Valley Center. By the midpoint of the third quarter, the duo had combined for three touchdowns.

The Jaguars’ defense held Valley Center to 95 yards of offense.

Eisenhower remains perfect, racing to a 44-7 lead through the third quarter. The Tigers beat Salina Central 51-28.

Goddard took care of business 41-7 over Newton

The Lions are now 3-1.

Cheney took a 14-7 first-quarter lead and stretched it to a 50-22 win over Clearwater

The Cardinals are now 4-0.

Hesston jumped out early with a 46-0 halftime lead over Nickerson. The Swathers went on to finish 53-6 and are still undefeated.
