Tessa Herrman, Abilene

“Tessa was one of the top three scorers in a very tough league and helped the Cowgirls to the most wins the team has had in recent years. She was nominated to first team all-league and was a scoring threat with the ability to post up and play the guard position. She was asked to do a lot for our team on both ends of the floor. She is a high-energy kid and plays with a lot of passion. She was asked to step up as a leader and loved seeing her teammates have success.”

Tayin Tabor, Andover Central

Season stats: 14.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists

“The kid is an all-around athlete that has spent all season being face guarded and responded to it. She was first team all-league.”

Aliyah Green, Andover

“Aliyah is a dynamic player, force to be reckoned with inside the paint and outstanding leader on and off the courts. She is constantly talking on the floor and cheering her teammates on. She averaged a double double this season. She also averages 3 assists a game, she does a great job finding her teammates that are heating up.”

Bella Bouddhara, Andover

“Bella is an outstanding guard that is way beyond her years. She can score in many different ways. She can drive and finish through contact, she can knock down threes, and then she has developed a nice midrange throughout the season. She can also score through her defense. She guards the other team’s best players a lot of times. She has been doing a great job leading us in scoring this year, but also doing well delivering the ball to others.

Maggie Strathman, Axtell

Season stats: 12.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.1 blocks

Maggie is 6-foot-1, has great hands and when she gets position at the block, it’s game over. She needs to work on her jump shot, dribbling and low post moves, but her potential is unlimited. She averaged a double-double against a loaded Twin Valley League and loaded non-league schedule.”

Avery McCorry, Bishop Carroll

“Avery is a great basketball player with outstanding instincts and versatility. Her court vision makes her one of the best passers on the court at any given time. She excels at creating scoring opportunities for herself and others. We used her inside and fed her the ball, but also had her playing on the outside handling the basketball. She was vital to our team.”

Megan Simon, Bishop Carroll

Season stats: 14 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.4 steals

“Megan is a competitive and tenacious basketball player. Her rebounding ability is one of her most impressive qualities. She gave a lot of teams fits this season because of her ability to rebound and score. Megan is a go-to type player. When we needed to score, she was who we looked for.”

Brynlyn Brockman, Blue Valley Randolph

Season stats: 12.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.1 steals, 1.4 blocks

“As a junior, Brynlyn hit her 500th career rebound and ended her season with 588 rebounds. She is at 899 total career points, dropping 270 of those in 19 games this season. Though we fell short in the semifinals of sub-state, Brynlyn led the team with 14 points and 11 rebounds. This season she recorded 10 double-doubles. Brynlyn is a force on and off the court. She is a straight A student-athlete that excels in the classroom and on the court. She is a strong leader and pushes her team to be better every game and practice. Brynlyn is driven to compete, to play hard and to be an encourager. She sees the court well and builds her teammates up. We are so proud of all of her accomplishments and thankful for her dedication. Keep watching No. 11. She has an exciting senior year ahead of her.”

Lily Unruh, Blue Valley Southwest

“Lily has one of the best midrange jumpers in the state.  She can score in a variety of ways, evident by leading the team in scoring in back-to-back seasons. Lily’s accolades include recognition with All-EKL, Sports in Kansas All-State, Wichita Eagle All-State and KBCA All-State lists.”

Mia Hansen, Blue Valley Southwest

Harmony John, Cherryvale

Season stats: 14.6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals

“Harmony has grown into a very dominant player. She plays inside-out and is starting to have the ability to take over games. She draws box-and-1s as a sophomore. She puts in time every morning and is the last kid to leave after practice. We are very excited to see where she leads us. She was named All-TVL first team. Made all-tournament team at the War on 54 tournament in Iola. Last season she was named to our All-Area third team. Scored in double digits in 18 of our 21 games.”

Kadynce Forman, Cherryvale

Season stats: 11 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.9 steals

“Kadynce was just named All-TVL second team, she was an honorable mention pick as a junior. She drew mismatches a lot because she was so long and worked hard. We used her to guard everyone’s best player, whether they were a guard or post because she stayed active and played smart. She was named to the Yates Center WWC & War on 54 all-tournament teams. Last season she was named to our All-Area second team.”

Emma Johnson, Circle

Emma capped an illustrious career at CHS finishing ranked eighth all-time in rebounds in school history, collecting 355 during her career.  Emma earned All-AVCTL first team this year along with being named defensive player of the year. Her hard-work and tenacity will be missed going forward.”

Lauren Swilley, Circle

“Lauren showed true grit battling through injuries and illness this past season but still was able to catch the eye of league coaches as she earned second team All-AVCTL III honors.  Her aggressiveness on the boards, especially offensively, led to many second chance points for herself and her teammates.”

Alisabeth Barton, Colby

Season stats: 17.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 3.5 steals

“Alisabeth is a talented player and an excellent teammate. Leading the team in scoring does not always mean leading in assists, as well, but she has accomplished this feat. Although she has succeeded in multiple sports beyond basketball, her success stems from her dedication to improving each day. She is open to coaching and listens when adjustments are needed. During the week of the sub-state semifinals and finals, Alisabeth fell ill. Statistically, she is our leading scorer, assist leader, and steals leader. Alisabeth has learned that success often requires performing at one’s best, even on the days we don’t feel our best. In the sub-tate finals, we faced a team we had beaten three times already. That same team was the one that had ended our season the previous year. Still not fully recovered, Alisabeth contributed seven assists and made all but one of her free throws. Her contributions were invaluable, accounting for nearly half of our total points through her seven assists on top of her own scoring. The same young lady who had been our leading scorer for three years, reaching over 1,000 points earlier in the season, prioritized her team’s success over her personal accolades. That said, it is worth noting that at full strength, in our first game at the State Tournament, she achieved 23 points and 17 rebounds, marking our first victory in the tournament in 17 years.”

Macayla Askew, Derby

Season stats: 13.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.9 steals

“Macayla was named the AVCTL I player of the year and has been first team All-AVCTL the past two years. She is one of the best players I have ever coached, and she still has room to improve. Her ability to rebound, block shots and get steals is truly impressive. We are excited about her senior year.”

Aysia Fox, Derby

Season stats: 10.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.3 steals

“Aysia was named to the AVCTL I first team. Aysia was a joy to coach this year. Her speed and ability to make tough layups is incredible. Aysia is one of the best defensive players we have had. We are so happy to have her for two more years.”

Makenzie Farmer, De Soto

Season stats: 22 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 4 steals

“In a record-breaking season, Makenzie Farmer has become the school’s all-time leading scorer (currently 1,275) and the school’s all-time leader in wins, assists and steals. The University of Central Missouri commit is as good of a guard as there is in the area.”

Lani Speer, Dighton

Season stats: 13.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.2 steals, 3.7 blocks

“Lani was a key contributor to our team this season, bringing dedication, effort and skill to every game. Whether it was making big plays on offense, blocking a shot on defense or being a leader on and off the court, she played a vital role in our success. She has continued to make big jumps every year of her high school career, and I looked forward to watching her make another big jump for her senior year next year.”

Addison Swenson, Elyria Christian

“Addison led our team in scoring this season with 231 points, including 52 made three-pointers. She was also very active defensively with 3.2 steals per game and 4.3 deflections per game. She was a tremendous leader both on and off the court. The effort that she consistently gives is a perfect example to her teammates on what it takes to be successful.”

Grace Prescott, Elyria Christian

“Grace led our team in assists this season, averaging five per game. She also averaged 3.3 steals per game which was a team high. She was a perfect point guard as she looked to distribute the ball first, but she could also score as she averaged 6.5 points per game. Her speed and ball handling ability combined to allow us to use her as a one person press breaker. She is one of the most competitive players I have ever coached.”

Brynn Deterding, Eudora

Season stats: 13.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.2 steals

“Brynn is a very talented scoring point guard.  She has a great feel for the game.  She is a two-way player as she is a tremendous defender.  She has a love for the game and it shows in her play.”

Avah Dye, Eudora

Season stats: 11.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.3 steals

“Avah has done an outstanding job by starting on the varsity roster as a freshman.  Avah plays hard and is physical on both ends of the floor.  She is a very good finisher at the rim for a younger player.”

Laynie Winfrey, Eureka

Season stats: 18 points, 4 assists, 6 rebounds, 55 threes, 43% three-point range

“Laynie is the definition of a team leader. With a high basketball IQ and an unselfish, pass-first mentality, she set our school’s assist record last season.  This year, when we lost our first team all-state player, Brenna Rucker, in mid-January, Laynie stepped up in every way possible. She embraced the challenge, shouldering the scoring load while continuing to make her teammates better. Despite the adversity, she led our team to an incredible season, finishing with only six losses and battling powerhouse Pittsburg Colgan in the sub-state finals. Her ability to adapt, lead and elevate those around her made all the difference.  Laynie didn’t just play the game, she carried her team on her back when it mattered most.”

Jenna Schmeidler,  Hays
