As the new season approaches, Haven’s Mayzie Warden is excited to see how her team develops and grows together throughout the year. Warden was a first team All-League and All-State outfielder last season.
“This season I’m most excited to watch our team grow into our full potential,” Warden said. “It’s always super fun to watch the other girls grow into their roles and gain their confidence.”
Throughout the offseason, Warden has spent plenty of time working on her game and staying active in other sports as well.
“During the offseason, you can often find me at the field, hitting front toss off my dad,” Warden said. “We focus on applying the right swings on the right pitches and fine tuning the fundamentals of my swing. I also play volleyball in the fall.”
Heading into the season, Warden is focused on improving one key area of her offensive game.
“This year I’d like to improve my consistency at the plate, which is really just knowing what swing to use and what pitches you hit well,” Warden said.
She also has several goals for what she hopes the team can accomplish together this year.
“Some goals I have for the team this year are to decrease our strikeouts as a team, go to state, win CKL league, and to enhance our small ball game,” Warden said.
