When one of college football’s most recognizable programs invests in its facilities, the playing surface has to meet a high standard.
Hellas Construction partnered with the University of Miami on a Phase 1 and Phase II football project at the Hurricanes’ athletics complex in Coral Gables, Florida. The project included installation of Hellas’ Matrix Helix® synthetic turf system with RealFill® infill.
Matrix Helix features Hellas’ Shape Memory Technology, which twists and heat-sets the turf fibers to help them remain upright and resilient throughout the life of the field. The design is also intended to help control infill movement and provide consistent footing and shock absorption.
The project gives Miami football a high-performance training surface designed for the demands of a major college football program.
The Hurricanes compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference under head coach Mario Cristobal. Miami’s football tradition includes multiple national championships and generations of players who have gone on to the NFL.
For Hellas Construction, the Miami project is another example of the company’s work across every level of athletics. Since 2003, Hellas has provided sports construction, turf, track, court and lighting solutions to K-12 schools, colleges and professional organizations nationwide.
