Inman’s Marlee Ballard had to utilize Advanced Physical Therapy after injuring her shoulder while playing summer softball.
“This injury occurred when I was playing at a softball tournament in Kansas City when I was playing shortstop,” Ballard said. “I threw the ball to first base and I felt a super sharp pain throughout my arm and it never felt normal again after that when throwing, hitting, and pitching.”
There were times when rehab was intense and uncomfortable for Ballard, but it was worth it in the long run.
“Some of the treatments I have done through APT are scraping, arm bands, and resistance band,” Ballard said. “My appointments lasted about an hour each time. These treatments were mildly intense. It really just depended on my shoulder mobility for that certain exercise, but all the exercises pushed me to get better.”
The scraping exercises in particular were the ones Ballard found most beneficial.
“When I get scraped it makes my mobility in my shoulder way better,” Ballard said. “And you will see the difference right after you scrape. Arm bands really work on getting my strength back in my shoulder. Since I was out for so long I have lost a bunch of my strength, but the arm bands really help me build up my strength in my shoulder.”
