Iola High School senior Nick Bauer enters his final season as the team’s trusted point guard, a role he has embraced through leadership and playmaking. Known for controlling the tempo and elevating the players around him, Bauer is determined to help the Mustangs make history before he graduates.

One of the team’s biggest goals this year is to break Iola’s single-game three-point record. Bauer believes this year’s squad has the firepower to make it happen. As the point guard, he will play a major role in orchestrating the kind of offensive rhythm needed to chase that milestone.

When it comes to the schedule, Bauer is especially looking forward to the War on 54 Tournament, a fan-favorite event known for its intensity and electric atmosphere. For Bauer, the energy in that tournament brings out the best in everyone and creates the kind of environment players remember long after the season ends.

This offseason, Bauer focused heavily on individual skill development, especially improving his ability to get to the lane. Adding that dimension to his game makes him even tougher to guard and opens up scoring opportunities for his teammates. One stat he takes pride in is averaging just under five assists per game last season. He was on pace for 100 total assists for the year but missed a few games.

Looking ahead, Bauer hopes to play college basketball or begin a pathway into coaching.

This season, Nick Bauer aims to leave a lasting legacy, and he’s ready to lead Iola to new heights.
