The cheer program at Labette County High School is building momentum under the leadership of head coach Angela Wininger. LCHS Cheer is focused on growth, performance, and pride as they prepare for another exciting year supporting Grizzly athletics.
This season, the team is looking forward to continuing to build skills, improve stunt execution, and elevate overall game-day performances. Friday night lights remain a highlight, as the squad energizes the crowd and supports Grizzly football. Representing their school and community with enthusiasm and professionalism is a responsibility the team takes seriously.
Leadership plays a vital role in the program’s success. Captain Sami Martin sets the tone with confidence, consistency, and a strong work ethic. She leads by example in practice and on the sidelines, holding teammates accountable while encouraging them to improve daily. Co-captains Ella Thomsen and Hadley Graves also provide steady leadership, helping maintain focus and motivation. Their positive energy and dedication help unify the team and model what it means to show Grizzly pride.
The team is especially excited for football and basketball seasons, where they will debut new stunts, increase crowd involvement, and create lasting memories together. Performing at a high level while continuing to grow as a program fuels their motivation.
Challenges this season include balancing academics with practices and a demanding game schedule. As the team works to raise the difficulty of its stunts, maintaining consistency and staying healthy will be key factors in achieving their goals.
Last season brought tremendous progress in stunt execution, skill development, and crowd engagement. Team chemistry strengthened, and the squad proudly represented Labette County at every event.
This year’s goals center on improving stunt difficulty, sharpening performance quality, maintaining academic excellence, and continuing to foster a positive team culture. Built on accountability, positivity, and family, LCHS Cheer pushes one another to grow while offering constant support. For this group, the friendships, shared goals, and memories make LCHS Cheer more than a team — it’s a family.
