Helping Moundridge’s boys finish second at state last year, senior Heath Churchill is excited to see how much he and his teammates have improved since then.
Churchill competes in the high jump, 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and the 4×400-meter relay for Moundridge. His versatility gives him the opportunity to score valuable points and help the team win meets.
“I play a decent role for our team. I have placed in all my events at state these past years, so I hope that trend continues,” Churchill said.
Last season, Churchill cleared 6 feet, 8 inches in the high jump, ran 15.04 seconds in the 110 hurdles and 39.27 seconds in the 300 hurdles. He was the 2025 state runner-up in the high jump and placed third in the 300 hurdles. He also helped lead his team to a fifth-place finish in the 4×400 relay.
Looking to continue competing in track and field after high school, the Moundridge senior spent much of his offseason training on the track.
“Lifting weights and getting stronger…I want to improve on both of my hurdle times,” Churchill said. “Doing workouts to get faster.”
Churchill has big goals for himself and his team this season.
“Some individual goals are to make it to state in all my events, and a team goal is to win state since we were runner-up last year,” Churchill said.
