By Cooper Chadwick

Mulvane’s senior pitcher, Parker Clubb, who is signed to play at the University of Louisville, is excited to play his last high school season.

“I am excited to go out and compete one last time for a state championship with my childhood friends. We have a loaded squad this year so I am looking forward to seeing all of our hard work we put in this offseason show up on the field,” Clubb said.

Clubb does virtual school through Mulvane, which gives him a unique opportunity to focus more on baseball and have more time on his hands to perfect his craft.

“I am at the facility every day from about 10:00-3:00 working with my strength coach, Clint Vancuren, on the lifting side and my hitting coach, Derek Norris, on the hitting side. Another key piece in my training regimen is my pitching coach, Dave Sanders, he’s worked with me since I was nine and am extremely blessed to have him in my life,” Clubb said.

Last season, Clubb earned all-league first team, as well as all-state first team.

“Parker is a phenomenal player for us.  He has been our number 1 pitcher for the last two years and is at the top of our team offensively every year as well,” head coach Steve Nelson said.

Even though Clubb has already committed to play Division I baseball he still put in tons of work this offseason to improve his game.

“One area I am wanting to improve on is being more aggressive at the plate and showcasing more power this year.,” Clubb said. “This offseason to improve on that I worked on establishing a plan while in the box and building an aggressive mindset while up at the plate. Also doing challenging drills off the machine to simulate a game.”
