Perry Lecompton’s point guard Eli Dean has done his fair share of winning over his four years as a varsity basketball player
Dean has always had a special place in his heart for basketball since he was five. Last year Dean was an All Big-7 League First Team Selection, as well as an All-State Honorable mention
“I’ve been playing my whole life and this sport has meant a lot to me and my friends, so it’s very important to us that we go out with our heads held high knowing that we did all we could,” Dean said.
The Perry Lecompton Kaws are coming off of a year where they went 14-8 during Dean’s junior year. Now after a slow start to the season, the senior knows that he and the rest of the team have a lot more in the tank.
“As a team, we’ve had a rough start to the year, as we’ve played a lot of tough opponents, but we’re looking to bounce back and start playing our best basketball,” Dean said. “We’d love to make a run in regionals this year and try to make it back to state. Personally, I’m looking to break the school all-time assist record and just finish my basketball career out strong.”
The senior is a smart point guard who knows the program in and out.
“As a point guard, I’m not only responsible for scoring myself, but getting others the best opportunities to score as well, so it definitely is a challenge but one I love to take,” Dean said. “I love to just lead by example for some of the young guys in the program, as we have a lot of seniors this year.”
