VYPE: What do you love most about being a student-athlete at Emporia HS?

Madelynne Brown: I love being a student-athlete because it means we get to represent our school in the best ways possible, we are always making friends through school and sports, and we learn so many life lessons.

VYPE: What’s your favorite subject in school and do you have a favorite teacher?

MB: My favorite subject in school is English, and my favorite teacher is Natalie Schroer

VYPE: What grade are you in and how long have you been a dancer?

MB: I’m a senior and this is my seventh-year dancing!

VYPE: What makes being a Spartanette special to you?

MB: Being a Spartanette is so special because we have such a close team bond. That really makes being on the team fun, and I always look forward to practices and performances.

VYPE: Is there a certain style of dance you love to perform?

MB: I love performing jazz because it is my favorite style. We always have super fun dances to perform as well

VYPE: Are you involved in any other clubs or sports teams at Emporia HS?

MB: I am also a cheerleader, and I’m involved in the spartan club.

VYPE: Who on the team keeps everyone laughing, who is the most serious and who has the best impression of your coach?

MB: Cynthia Yackovich can always make us laugh and Sage always takes practice seriously and is ready to learn but can always have fun too!

VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life? Explain.

MB: My three biggest influences would be my parents and my big sister. My parents have always taught me to be kind, work hard and to never give up, no matter how hard life gets.  My sister has also always been a role model for me; she has taught me to be humble, responsible and she has shown me every day that I will always have her support in life.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

MB: In my free time, I enjoy visiting family, traveling, and spending time with friends!

VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?

MB: After high school, I plan to attend a community college to continue cheering and get a degree in cosmetology.
