The final season of high school football brings added motivation for Riverton’s Aydin Witherspoon, who is focused on making every moment count alongside the teammates he’s grown up with.
“I’m most excited to play with all my friends one last time and see how far we can go,” Witherspoon said.
Witherspoon has spent the offseason preparing for what he hopes will be a memorable senior campaign. His summer has centered on speed and strength training, giving him the physical foundation to make an impact in multiple facets of the game.
While he has already established himself as a dynamic playmaker, Witherspoon knows there is still room to grow. Improving as a passer has been one of his top priorities heading into the season.
“I think I could work on throwing,” he said. “I’m going to be doing a 7-on-7 so I can work on throwing and seeing the field.”
That commitment to becoming a more complete player reflects the versatility Witherspoon hopes to showcase this fall. His individual goals include eclipsing 1,000 rushing yards while adding at least 500 passing yards, 200 receiving yards and another 600 yards on returns.
Those numbers would make him a threat in every phase of the game, but personal statistics are secondary to what he hopes Riverton can accomplish as a team.
“My goal for this season is to make this last year count,” Witherspoon said. “As a team, I think our goal is to shock our town and show them what we can do.”
