Salina Central’s Phoebe Bohrer – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Spencer Cleaning

By Cooper Chadwick

Salina Central senior Phoebe Bohrer competes in the 800-meter run and high jump for the Mustangs and is ready to go all out in her final season.

“I am most excited for the upcoming season, exceeding my personal goals and making new PRs,” Bohrer said.

During the offseason, Bohrer stays active in multiple sports. She runs cross country in the fall and competes in wrestling in the winter, while also focusing on improving her track performance.

“I am wanting to improve my overall speed and strength. Doing other sports and staying active really helped with that,” Bohrer said.

Competing as a three-sport athlete has helped Bohrer stay in shape year-round, making it easier to transition between seasons.

Bohrer’s main goal this year is to qualify for state and set new personal records in her events. Each season, her focus is on continual improvement, even as reaching new PRs becomes more challenging.

Bohrer plans to attend Butler Community College to study nursing, a demanding academic program.

“This is going to be my last year being on a sports team. I am not continuing sports in college due to my major during college. Last year, best year,” Bohrer said.
