For Wichita Trinity Academy senior Grace Barrett, volunteering is more than an activity—it is a way to give back, especially through her work with local organizations like Simply Hygiene.
Barrett, who is involved in volleyball, student council, Young Life, and Wyldlife leadership at Trinity, said her passion for service has grown through both school and athletics.
“I love volunteering. It helps me share the gracious gifts I have been blessed with other people, and giving my time to others is one of my favorite things as well,” Barrett said.
That mindset carried over when her school basketball team participated in a volunteer day at Simply Hygiene, an experience she said left a lasting impact.
“Throughout school basketball this year, we decided to have a volunteering day with the team, and we chose Simply Hygiene, and we could not have made a better choice,” Barrett said. “We wanted to give our time to a local organization that is on the front lines of helping people in our own community and beyond.”
Barrett said the experience also showed her how accessible service opportunities can be for students who want to get involved.
“I want people to know that hygiene is easy to volunteer with them,” she said. “The workers at the facility are so kind and love having lots of helping hands when packing items. It truly is so easy to begin volunteering.”
