Being a senior for the Ulysses basketball team is not something Clarissa Sianuqui takes lightly. She knows she has a standard that needs to be set for the next generation of Lady Tiger basketball players.
“I’m most excited to be able to showcase the growth and maturity the team and I have made from last season,” Sianuqui said. “As a senior, I look forward to leaving a legacy behind that future Lady Tigers can be proud of.”
Sianuqui’s regiment to get ready for the season is complicated because she was a two-time state tennis tournament qualifier. She thinks, though, playing tennis is a unique way to get ready for basketball season.
“I competed in tennis during the fall season to keep my body prepared for the season,” My action plan included putting in multiple hours in the gym, lifting weights, attending team camps, and mentally preparing for the season.”
Last season Sianuqui averaged 10 points per game, as well as four steals and two assists per game.
But now as a senior, Sianuqui also sees the importance of being a good leader for her team. Once summer ball came around, she began to understand it even more.
“My goal for this season is to continue to grow as a leader,” Sianuqui said. “Throughout the summer, I was able to gain a better understanding of my leadership skills and how to empower and motivate my fellow teammates in various situations.”
