Emily Freeby is excited to return to the field and enjoy one final season of the sport she loves as graduation approaches.
“I am excited to be back out on the field and have a fun senior season with my friends before high school is over,” Freeby said. “This is my last time playing the sport I love and grew up with and I couldn’t think of a better way to end my career than with my friends on the field with me.”
During the offseason, Freeby has been practicing at home with a focus on improving her pitching skills.
“I have been practicing at home and really focusing on the fundamentals,” she said. “I worked a lot on my special pitches—drop ball, change up, and screwball.”
This season, Freeby is focused on improving both her accuracy and spin in the pitching circle.
“I want to improve on my accuracy with my pitches as well as my spin on my ball,” she said.
Her personal goal for the season is to enjoy every moment while also helping her team grow closer and perform at its best.
“My goal for me is to have as much fun as possible and soak up every opportunity,” Freeby said. “My goal for the team is to bond closer, work together, and come out on top. I also want all of us seniors to help the underclassmen as much as possible before we leave.”
Looking ahead, Freeby plans to continue her education while pursuing a career in real estate.
“My future plans are to attend Wichita State University for business management and go into real estate,” Freeby said.
