Valley Center’s Evan Chavez – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Rikki Casey Shelter Insurance

After months of rehabilitation following meniscus surgery, Valley Center’s Evan Chavez is eager for one thing: getting back on the football field with his teammates.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to get back on the field with my teammates after recovering from my meniscus surgery,” Chavez said. “Going through rehab has made me appreciate football even more.”

The long recovery process has given Chavez a new perspective on the game and fueled his motivation heading into the upcoming season. He said he’s looking forward to seeing the team’s offseason work translate into success under the Friday night lights.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the hard work everyone has put into the offseason pay off on Friday nights, contributing to my team however I can, and seeing what God has planned for this season,” he said.

While many players spent the offseason focused on strength training and competition, Chavez’s priority was returning to full health. He dedicated himself to physical therapy, rebuilding strength and mobility while preparing mentally for his return.

“My offseason has been focused on recovering from meniscus surgery,” Chavez said. “I’ve been committed to physical therapy, rebuilding my strength, improving my mobility, and doing everything I can to come back healthy.”

He also spent time studying film and expanding his understanding of the game.

“I’ve also been staying mentally prepared by watching film, learning more about the game, and continuing to develop my football IQ,” Chavez said. “This experience has taught me patience, discipline, and perseverance.”

As Chavez prepares to return to action, one of his biggest goals is improving his explosiveness and athleticism while continuing to build on the work he has done during rehab.

“My rehab has allowed me to focus on strengthening my legs, improving balance and stability, and building a strong foundation for a safe return to the field,” he said.

Beyond his physical development, Chavez hopes to make an impact as a leader.

“I want to become a better leader by encouraging my teammates and bringing a positive attitude every day,” he said.

His personal goals extend beyond statistics. Chavez wants to return healthy, improve each day and serve as a dependable teammate.

“My goal is to return healthy and make a positive impact on the field,” he said. “I want to continue improving every day and become the best player I can be, be a reliable leader who works hard, encourages my teammates, and represents Christ well.”
