Wellington’s Colton Elmore – Quarterback Poll Winner – Presented by Shelter Insurance

Colton Elmore is embracing both the challenge and opportunity that comes with leading Wellington into a new season.

The quarterback is eager to see how the Crusaders respond to a revamped schedule while continuing to build chemistry as a team. One game in particular already has Elmore’s attention: a rivalry matchup with Mulvane that returns to the schedule after a brief hiatus.

“I am most excited to see how this team builds together and competes against our new schedule,” Elmore said. “As a team we are looking forward to playing our rivals, Mulvane, for the first time in a couple of years.”

Elmore has spent the offseason preparing for the added responsibility of leading the offense. He attended multiple camps, including stops at Tulsa, Washburn and the Sharp Performance Top Prospect Camp, while also participating in a quarterback training session with Jeff Christened.

The experience gave Elmore valuable insight into an area he believes can elevate his game even further.

“My main area that I want to improve is my footwork,” Elmore said. “I learned a lot with Jeff Christened at his session and have been training on my own to get better.”

That commitment to improvement reflects the approach Elmore has taken throughout the offseason. By seeking out instruction from camps and specialized quarterback training, he hopes to be more consistent in the pocket and better equipped to guide Wellington’s offense through a demanding schedule.

Individual accolades are on Elmore’s radar, but his primary focus remains on helping the Crusaders succeed as a team.

“Some goals that I have this year is to bring my team back into the playoffs again, earn first-team All-State and be a great leader on and off the field,” Elmore said. “Some team goals we have is to beat our rivals, have a winning record and make a great playoff run.”
