Wichita East’s Kaitlyn Ly – Swim Poll Winner – Presented by Visit Wichita

By Matt Browning

Wichita East’s Kaitlyn Ly was one of the top swimmers in the City League last season. She was the 100 breaststroke champion and also took second in the 200 individual medley.

“I am most excited to be with both my returning and new teammates this season,” Ly said. “Additionally, I am excited to work hard with them at practice and see our improvement as the season progresses.”

From a technical standpoint, Ly is already one of the best, so she has focused more on being mentally tough this season.

“I did more mental preparation rather than physically participating in club swimming as I spent my fall semester running a lot for cross country,” Ly said.

From winning specific meets to focusing on specific times, Ly has set several goals she wants to accomplish this season.

“For me individually, I want to further improve my time in the 200 IM specifically,” Ly said. “Additionally, I want to be a finalist in both of my individual events at state. I hope that I can make A finals in at least one of my events. For the team, I would love to see us be back to back GWAL champions for the second year in a row.”
