Wichita Heights’ Zoe Wallace – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Visit Wichita

By Cooper Chadwick

Center fielder and senior Zoe Wallace plays a key leadership role for Wichita Heights.

“This season I am excited to develop my skills and show up for my team by breaking bad habits and teaching my fellow teammates how to throw properly. I am also excited to go through this last high school season and have as much fun as I can,” Wallace said.

Wallace is also one of the team captains for the Falcons and takes her role seriously.

“I am there for my teammates when they have a problem or feel there is something that they would like to work on and improve on so I can then relay back to the coaches so the entire team can improve,” Wallace said.

To prepare for her senior season, Wallace focused on improving her game with a positive attitude.

“During the offseason I took a lot of pop-up balls in the outfield that made me run up to them, drop back to them, and run left and right to them. I also did a lot of working on staying low while throwing to my teammates,” Wallace said.

Last season, Wallace’s focus was different. This season she wants to take each game one by one and savor the moment.

“My motivation for this season is that it is going to be the last time I play softball with the girls on my high school team so I want to have as much fun as I can while also taking it serious and playing my part on the team,” Wallace said.
