Announcement strengthens Wichita’s reputation as Best Sports-Event Host City, adds to growing reputation as a premier adaptive sports destination
Wichita, Kan. (July 29, 2026) – Visit Wichita and USA Boccia today announced Wichita has been selected to host the 2027 USA Boccia National Championship, bringing the nation’s top boccia athletes to Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center July 21-25, 2027.
The five-day championship will feature elite athletes from across the country competing in one of the world’s fastest-growing Paralympic sports. The event also serves as an important stop on the road to the LA28 Paralympic Games, providing many of the nation’s top competitors with a key opportunity to prepare for the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

With the LA28 Paralympic Games on the horizon, this championship will be an important opportunity for athletes to test themselves against the best in the country.”
The 2027 championship marks the first time Wichita will host the USA Boccia National Championship, adding another national governing body championship to the city’s growing portfolio of major sporting events and further strengthening Wichita’s reputation as a destination for adaptive sports.

Boccia is a precision ball sport designed for athletes with severe physical disabilities and has been part of the Paralympic Games since 1984. The sport continues to experience significant growth in the United States and around the world, offering elite competition while increasing opportunities for athletes of all abilities.
“Boccia is a highly competitive sport that requires tremendous precision, strategy and focus,” Taylor said. “Hosting the national championship in Wichita gives us an opportunity not only to showcase these exceptional athletes but also to introduce more people to the sport and continue expanding awareness and participation across the country.”
USA Boccia joins a growing list of national sports organizations choosing Wichita because of its proven track record of hosting successful championship events. In recent years, Wichita has welcomed national championships from organizations including USA Gymnastics, USA Boxing, USA Badminton, USA Judo, U.S. Figure Skating, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Wichita was also recognized by SportsTravel as the 2025 Best Sports-Event Host City.
