East’s golf team led by Talen Nasone, Anderson Tung

East’s top golfers all season have been sophomore Talen Nasone and junior Anderson Tung, who were both state qualifiers in 2023.

“Talen is an all-around talent,” coach Tyler Dansel said. “He hits the ball a long way and has a really good short game. He also is usually able to keep his emotions in check.

“Anderson’s game isn’t super flashy, but it is so steady. He rarely makes mistakes.  But his best attribute is his attitude. I would describe him as relentlessly positive.  Even if things aren’t going well, he is able to smile and joke about it.  He is so fun to coach.”

Anderson’s distance off the tee and his short game have improved throughout the season.

The rest of the Aces include Alec Gatzulis, Arri Reilly, Hagen Shane and Kyran Shane.

“I have a group of guys that genuinely like each other and like being around each other,” Dansel said. “(When) we traveled to Garden City just this past weekend … they had a ball being together. They love golf and talking about golf. They have been great.”

The Aces compete at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Class 6A regionals today.
