Basketball scores, recaps (Dec. 3)

High school basketball is back at Koch Arena today for the second of three days.

The schedule for today and Friday is below.

Friday’s scores, recaps

Boys

Andover Central 80, East 52 — It was a five-point lead for Andover Central after the first, but the Jaguars increased that lead to 14 by halftime.

Kobe Smith scored 26 points, including 14 in the final period, while Skyler Clevenger finished with 17 and Chance Gulley 12.

Larry Graham had 21 points for East, hitting four three-pointers.

Arkansas City 57, Winfield 39 — Ark City was led by Trevor Pierce’s 22 points and seven rebounds. Cadon Clark added 11 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals. Colin Frazier scored nine points and had five rebounds, while Aidan Brantley had nine points.

Augusta 52, Goddard 43 — Kaden McDaniel scored 18 points and had seven rebounds to lead Augusta. He had nine in the fourth quarter, while Gavin Kiser scored 10 points for Augusta. Rogers scored a game-high 21 for Goddard.

Buhler 69, Nickerson 31 — Jack Voth finished with 23 points, while Grant Ricker had 11 for Buhler.

Clearwater 41, Belle Plaine 26

Concordia 74, Beloit 67

Dodge City 62, McPherson 48 — McPherson was led by Kreighton Kanitz’s 19 points, while Seth Madron had 13 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Cory Muehler added 12 points.

Goessel 59, Marion 26 — Skyler Wuest scored 15 points and Caiden Duerksen had 17 to lead Goessel.  Wuest also had seven rebounds.

Haven 61, Hutchinson Trinity 28 — B. Hammer led Haven with 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from two-point range.

Independent 69, Kingman 68 — Independent forced a turnover on an inbounds play with five seconds remaining. After a scramble for the loose ball, Conar Harris took the pass on the right wing and drained the game-winning, last-second three to give Independent the win.

Harris scored a game-high 32 points, while teammates Joseph Recalde-Phillips and Samuel Taylor added 11 each to give first-year coach Tyler Keim his first victory.

Lakin 81, Southwestern Heights 68 — Lakin’s Servando Gonzalez scored 34 points and Allen Martinez had 29.

Lyons 38, Ellsworth 24

Maize 48, Kapaun 43 — Kyle Grill led Maize with 17 points, while Avery Johnson had 10. Kapaun was led by Will Anciaux’s 21 points and Henry Thengvall had 13.

Northwest 54, Campus 46 — Northwest built a 40-26 third-quarter lead, but Campus chipped away at it by scoring 20 fourth-quarter points.

Campus got within 41-40 and 45-43 in the final period. Northwest hit 9 of 16 free throws in the fourth.

Northwest held off the Colts and was led by Demarcus Hoover’s 14 points, and Geremiah Moore and Kee’on Hutton each had 11.

Zion Young led Campus with 17 points and Andrew Howard had 14.

Oxford 60, Fairfield 50

Pratt 62, Larned 21

Salina South 57, Salina Central — Salina South’s Tejon McDaniel had 20. Nolan Puckett led Salina Central with 13.

Sedan 77, Chetopa 26

Sedgwick 57, Halstead 44

West Elk 64, Oswego 22 — Wesley Young led West Elk with 20 points and Garrett Toon had 19.

Girls

Beloit 49, Concordia 14

Cheney 71, Conway Springs 18 — Cheney had four in double figures — Campbell Hague had 14 points, Korri Lies 13, Brooklyn Wewe 11 and Brynn McCormick 10.

Clearwater 63, Belle Plaine 22 — Carli Carlson opens the season with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Elizabeth Tjaden scored 14.

Dodge City 45, McPherson 33 — Peyton Howard led McPherson with 10 points and Lauren Labertew had seven rebounds. Becca Unruh scored 17 for Dodge City.

Eisenhower 32, North 24 — Taylor Burkholder and Addison Verbeck each scored eight points to lead Eisenhower. North’s Am’Unique Cavitt led all scorers with 19 points.

Ell-Saline 40, Salina Sacred Heart 38

Garden Plain 64, Trinity Academy 27 — Celia Puetz scored a game-high 17 points, hitting 4 of 7 shots and 9 of 12 free throws. Teammate Carly Hitt had 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting.

Brooke Hammond and Sydney Puetz each scored 10. Hammond had nine rebounds, as well.

Goddard 46, Augusta 28

Goessel 53, Marion 40 — Goessel’s Cheyenne Sawyer scored a game-high 16 points and had nine rebounds, while teammate Braylyn Hoopes scored 10.

Halstead 31, Sedgwick 28

Haven 48, Hutchinson Trinity 17 — Haven’s Carlee Bland scored 19points, and Sienna DeFrain scored 15 with nine rebounds. Sadie Estill had eight rebounds.

Hutchinson Central Christian 66, Wichita Classical 15

Kingman 43, Independent 25

Lebo 32, Flinthills 26

Lyons 51, Ellsworth 40

Maize 55, Kapaun 35 — Maize’s Kyla Frenchers led all scorers with 16 points, Lambert 15 and Smith 10. Kapaun was led by Sophia Gimino led the Crusaders with 15 points and Lizzie Romer had 14.

Maize South 44, East 35 — East led by five at the half, but Maize South scored 23 points in the quarter. Jenna Uehling had 11 of her game-high 17 points in the period, including two threes. Ava Howie also hit two threes in the third when she scored 10 of her 14 points.

East was led by Asia Dawson’s 11 points.

Nickerson 87, Buhler 27 — Nickerson was led by Ava Jones’ 31 points. K. Abernathy and D. Ponds added 14 and 11 points.

Remington 67, Bluestem 37 — Kaleigh O’Brien led all scorers with 34 points.
