Ellsworth’s Lakyn Tenbrink – NexTech Wireless “One To Watch”

Ellsworth High School senior Lakyn Tenbrink has a busy schedule. She plays volleyball, basketball, competes in track, and is involved in student council, E-club, and art club. Her favorite thing about her high school is, in her words, “how everyone knows everyone and how close I am with all my peers.”

On that note, Tenbrink values the relationships she has built with her teammates and coaches. Watching the team her mother coached was an example of camaraderie that inspired her to join a team sport even more.

“I enjoy getting to to build relationships with my teammates, doing what I love, and having that family-like environment with all my teams,” she said. “Growing up my mom was a high school volleyball coach and watching the teams she coached just always made me want to play volleyball, but I didn’t really love it as much as I do now until I got into high school.”

It is these relationships she has cultivated with those around her that helps motivate Tenbrink to be her best on and off the court.

“What motivates me the most are probably my coaches and teammates because without them I wouldn’t be able to push myself outside my own comfort zone,” she said.

Tenbrink cites her parents as role models and appreciates all of the support they’ve given her over the years.

“I probably look up to my parents the most for the constant support and advice they have given me and long road trips to and from tournaments that they have never hesitated getting me to,” she said.

After high school Tenbrink would like to continue her volleyball career on the collegiate level.
